Scanner feeds and frequencies

Polk County’s public safety radio reaches the public two ways. Broadcastify Calls records the Sheriff’s Office and Onalaska PD dispatch channels and plays them back call by call — those two want you signed in, though a free account is enough. Seven live feeds carry continuous audio and ask for nothing, six of them a single fire department’s dispatch each — and none of the seven is a Sheriff’s Office feed, which is why the Calls pages matter.

This is raw radio traffic, not news

A scanner carries what somebody said into a radio in the first sixty seconds of a call, before anyone has checked it. Initial reports are wrong all the time - the wrong address, the wrong number of vehicles, a fire that turns out to be a controlled burn. PolkTX is not an alerting authority and does not monitor these feeds. Do not act on scanner traffic, do not repeat it as fact, and never call an agency to ask about something you heard on one. For an emergency, call 911.

Law enforcement — recorded calls

A SECOND KIND OF RECORD, AND NOT A LIVE STREAM. Broadcastify Calls records each transmission on one frequency and plays them back one at a time — the player sits on "waiting for call" between them rather than carrying continuous audio, and it lists what it has just recorded. It is how Polk County law enforcement is reachable at all: none of the seven live feeds below is a Sheriff’s Office feed. YOU NEED AN ACCOUNT, AND A FREE ONE IS ENOUGH. Checked 2026-09-15: both of these refuse to play until you are signed in to Broadcastify, and both play on a free account with nothing paid for. The seven live feeds below need no account at all.

Broadcastify titles it Polk County / Polk County — 154.78500 — Sheriff/Police Dispatch P25. The same frequency as the first row of the table below; this is that channel, recorded.

Onalaska Police — dispatch ↗

155.9325 · P25 · Onalaska PD 1

Broadcastify titles it Polk County / Onalaska — 155.93250 — Police Dispatch. The same frequency as the Onalaska Police row below, recorded.

Livingston PD is not in that list

LIVINGSTON PD IS NOT HERE, and it goes between the two above. It dispatches over TxWARN, a trunked system, so there is no single frequency to record the way there is for the Sheriff’s Office and Onalaska — what there is instead is the talkgroup below. If a Calls page for it appears, it belongs in this list, second.

Live feeds

Status, listener count and uptime are read live from each feed's own page by /api/scanner, server-side, once every five minutes for the whole site. The values printed below are the dated reading in this file and are replaced the moment that endpoint answers - so with JavaScript off, or the endpoint down, this page shows the older reading and says when it was taken rather than pretending. Status is never inferred from the listener count: a feed with nobody listening is usually still transmitting. The feed's own page is always the final answer, and these links go straight to it.

The only feed here that is not a single fire department, and the only one carrying law enforcement. It spans eight counties, so much of what you hear on it is not Polk County. Its provider runs SDRTrunk with a Uniden SDS200 as backup and also uploads to Broadcastify's Calls platform.

There is no Sheriff's Office feed

Broadcastify lists seven feeds for Polk County and not one of them carries the Sheriff. Six are a single fire department each. The seventh spans eight counties and its own description names law enforcement, DPS and air medical, but whether Polk County Sheriff traffic is actually in its rotation is not something PolkTX has been able to confirm - and its provider decodes TxWARN, which the Sheriff is not on. So the largest law enforcement agency in the county has no feed of its own, and that is the clearest gap on this page.

What the agencies transmit on

From the RadioReference database for Polk County, and from the feed pages for the fire channels. NONE of these is flagged encrypted - the digital channels are P25, which is a way of encoding voice, not a way of hiding it. P25 needs a scanner that can decode it; the analog channels do not.

Livingston PD also runs on TxWARN

The Texas Wide Area Radio Network is a P25 Phase II trunked system covering 41 counties from roughly 97 sites, and Livingston PD dispatches over it. Phase II needs a scanner that supports it; a Phase I only radio will not decode it. A trunked talkgroup is not a frequency — you program the system and the talkgroup, not a number off the table above.

The weather transmitter is in the county

KXI-55 broadcasts on 162.500 MHz from Onalaska, one of six NOAA Weather Radio transmitters the National Weather Service office in Houston/Galveston programs. It runs continuously - watches, warnings and the forecast cycle, read out around the clock - which is why it is the one channel here that a scanner cannot share with anything else: park on it and you hear nothing else ever again. Any receiver that covers the weather band picks it up, and so does a $30 weather radio from a hardware store.

What is missing from this page

Said out loud, because a list that looks complete and is not is worse than a short one.

About this page

PolkTX does not operate any of these feeds, does not monitor them, and has no connection to Broadcastify or to any agency listed. There is no audio player here: Broadcastify's embeddable player is for the people who own the feeds, and PolkTX owns none of them. The links go to Broadcastify's own pages, which is where the live status and the audio are. For an emergency, call 911.

COMPILED 2026-09-12 from Broadcastify's county feed directory, each feed's own page read individually, and the RadioReference database. STATUS WAS READ OFF EACH FEED PAGE, not inferred from the county listing's listener counts - the first version of this page got that wrong and said five of seven feeds were dark when all seven were transmitting; see the correction log. NOT INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED: PolkTX has not put a receiver on any of these frequencies and has not listened to any feed end to end. The status and listener counts STORED IN THIS FILE are a single reading on one day and go stale faster than anything else here, which is why the page now reads them live from each feed's page at load time and falls back to these only when it cannot. What is not live, and is not checked by anybody, is everything else on the page: PolkTX has put no receiver on these frequencies and has listened to no feed end to end. The stored reading will go stale faster than anything else on this site - follow the link for the live answer. NOT PUBLISHED: DPS and Game Warden frequencies, which are not in the county listing, and the PL/DPL tones for the fire channels. NO AGENCY HAS APPROVED OR REVIEWED THIS PAGE, and none of these feeds is operated by PolkTX.
