Fire & EMS
Every fire department registered to Polk County, from the state's own record. In an emergency, call 911.
This page is a directory, not a dispatch line. The numbers below reach stations, and a volunteer station is not staffed around the clock. For any emergency, call 911.

What we can say, and what we cannot.
PolkTX has not confirmed which service 911 dispatches for an ambulance in Polk County, so this page does not name one.
More than one ambulance company carries a Livingston address. Having a business here is not the same as holding the county's 911 contract, and on a page somebody opens during an emergency, naming the wrong one would be worse than naming none.
The Polk County Office of Emergency Management can answer it — Polk County Office of Emergency Management, 602 E Church St, Livingston, TX, (936) 327-6826. When we have it in writing from them, it goes here.
They also post on Facebook, which is where a road closure or a shelter opening usually appears first — Polk County Emergency Management, 21K followers.
State grants, fiscal 2026
20 awards to 9 of the county's 10 departments, $1,170,000 in total, across 5 funding rounds — Oct 2025 – Aug 2026.
The Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program (RVFDAP) is how the Texas A&M Forest Service pays for equipment a volunteer department could not otherwise buy: trucks, water tenders, slip-on units, protective clothing, training. Polk County departments are all volunteer, and the county has hydrants in town and almost none outside it — which is why a water tender, a truck whose job is hauling water to a fire, is the largest single line below.

Indian Springs VFD does not appear in any of the 5 funding summaries for this year. That is not the same as being turned down. These summaries publish approvals only, so a department that never applied and a department that applied and was refused look exactly alike in them. The only way to know which is to ask the department.
The figures above are read out of the state's own funding summaries rather than retyped, and each row is matched to a department by name, because the summaries publish a name and a county and no identifier. The county filter is the state's own County column, so a department that covers part of Polk County but is registered in a neighbouring one would not appear here.
Fiscal 2026 was not a normal year: the 89th Legislature put an extra $192 million of one-time money into this program, and the Forest Service awarded more than $227 million statewide across the five rounds. The next round is tentatively October 2026.

Where this comes from
Every department above is from Texas FireConnect, the Texas A&M Forest Service's registry of registered Texas fire departments. The full statewide set — 1,836 departments — was pulled and filtered to departments whose county is Polk. Three American counties are named Polk, in Texas, Oregon and Georgia, and search engines mix them freely; the filter here is an exact match on the state's own county field, not a name search.
Each card carries the date the state registry last verified that department, because those differ by more than a year between departments and a crew size from 2025 is not a crew size from today. Chiefs' personal mobile numbers and email addresses appear in that registry and are deliberately not copied here.
No Polk County department reports an Emergency Services District, with one exception that records a coverage area rather than a district. That is what the registry says; it is not the same as a guarantee that no ESD exists.
