Employers this page cannot list

Some of the county's biggest sources of work — the mills, the prison, the school district — publish in ways no site can read automatically. Rather than leave them off, here is where each one posts.

The one district that is not in the feed

Livingston ISD hires through its own site.

Five of the county's six districts post their openings on the Region 6 employment board, which is where the school listings above come from. Livingston ISD does not, and it is also the county's largest district by a distance — about 4,000 students across seven campuses.

Its openings are not missing from this page by oversight. They are simply not published anywhere this page can reach, so go to the district.

The prison

Polunsky Unit hires correctional officers continuously.

The Allan B. Polunsky Unit sits in Livingston and is the only TDCJ facility in Polk County. TDCJ lists it as a Level I men's prison under the Correctional Institutions Division, and correctional officer hiring runs year-round rather than in postings that open and close.

TDCJ recruits through CAPPS Recruit, the State of Texas candidate portal, which requires a session and cannot be read from outside a browser. So the openings are not listed here — the link goes straight to the portal's current openings.

Two other employers hire at the same address. UTMB Correctional Managed Care staffs the unit's healthcare, and the Windham School District teaches inside it — Windham's Polunsky campus postings appear in the school district feed above, not here.

The OSB mill

RoyOMartin runs the Corrigan OSB mill and posts its own jobs.

Corrigan OSB is a RoyOMartin plant on US 287 west of Corrigan, making oriented strand board. It has run since 2017 and employs around 223 people, which puts it among the largest private employers in Polk County.

Its openings are not listed here because they cannot be read. The careers page has a "Current Opportunities" heading and fills the list in the browser afterwards; what the page actually sends is the heading and nothing under it. PolkTX would rather link you to the real list than show you an empty one.

The Camden mill

Georgia-Pacific hires at Camden, and files those jobs under Koch.

Camden is in Polk County, on the Neches side east of Livingston, and the mill there is a Georgia-Pacific operation. Georgia-Pacific is a Koch company, so its openings sit in Koch’s recruiting system rather than under its own name — which is why searching for work in Polk County does not find them.

That system does serve a readable list, unlike the others on this page. It is not proxied here because the wood-products filter returns Diboll as well, and Diboll is in Angelina County, sixty miles north. A feed that put out-of-county jobs on a Polk County page would be worse than a link.

Search that portal for Camden rather than Livingston. The mill is the location name Koch uses.

Diboll jobs in the same list are Angelina County, not Polk.

Precision machining

Worldwide Instrument Parts machines to order in Livingston.

WIP Company makes precision instrument parts and describes its people as machinists — skilled trade work of a kind the county has little of, and worth knowing about if that is what you do.

Its openings page has a positions section that arrives empty and is filled in by the browser, so there is nothing here to read. The link goes to the section itself.

Roads and materials

East Texas Asphalt hires in Livingston through CRH.

East Texas Asphalt is part of Oldcastle Materials, a CRH company, so its Livingston openings appear on CRH’s careers site rather than under the local name.

CRH’s search returns its filters and its chrome to a plain fetch and none of the results, so the openings cannot be read from here. The link is a search already filtered to Livingston.

Work of this kind is seasonal and weather-dependent, so an empty result in February is not the same as an employer who is not hiring.

Hiring in Polk County?

Post an opening.

Local job postings are free. The form asks for everything we need in one go — title, pay, how to apply, and who to come back to with a question — so a listing does not sit half-finished while we chase details. If you want it pinned to the top of the page, that is a paid promotion.

Still nothing?

Two places to go when this page did not have it — a bigger list, and how to get qualified for a job that asks for something you do not have yet.

The state job bank

WorkInTexas lists more than this page can.

WorkInTexas is the Texas Workforce Commission's own job bank, and it carries openings from employers who post nowhere else — including most state agency jobs and a long tail of small local employers. It is the single most complete list of work in this county.

PolkTX cannot pull from it. The site refuses automated requests outright, so there is no honest way to mirror it here. Search it directly instead — the link below is set to Livingston.

Filter by city rather than by ZIP: Livingston's postcode recently split into 77351 and 77352 along US 59, and a ZIP search can miss half the county.

If the opening needs a qualification you do not have

Where to get the qualification, and who might pay for it.

Several openings on this page ask for a diploma or equivalent, and the driving jobs ask for a commercial license. Both are obtainable in the county, and there is a third organization whose job is helping cover the cost.

Region 6 runs adult education across this area and states that eligible Texans can earn a GED at no cost through a testing voucher. It also runs a CDL program, English classes, and training that pairs coursework with career skills.

The TSUS Polk County Center on the 59 Loop is where three Lamar colleges teach in Livingston — associate degrees and workforce certificates in healthcare, business, industrial technology and public service, with GED classes and testing on site.

Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas is the public workforce board for this region, and Livingston is one of the six places it keeps an office. It is not a school. It states that it can help pay for training in the region's high-skill, high-demand occupations, that its specialists will help you work out what to study and how to fund it, and that funded training has to be with a provider on the state's Eligible Training Provider List. Its page also sets out the other routes — Pell Grants, GI Bill and Hazlewood for veterans, and Vocational Rehabilitation for people with disabilities.

It has an office in Livingston at 1241 West Church Street, Suite 300, open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, on (936) 327-5421.

How this page works

Openings are read directly from five sources each time this page loads — the City of Livingston job feed, Polk County's applicant portal, the Region 6 school district board, Naskila's applicant system and St Luke's postings. Nothing is copied into this site, so nothing here can outlive the opening it describes.

When a source cannot be read, this page says so by name. It never shows an employer as having no openings because we failed to check. Every posting links to the employer's own application; PolkTX does not collect applications, resumes or personal information, and never charges job seekers.
