Hunting Leases

Leases and open spots in Polk County. Free to list, free to read, and nothing here has been verified — which is exactly why the page tells you how to check it yourself.

This has always been word of mouth. A hunter without a lease has nowhere to look, and a landowner with one spot free can tell four people. That is the only reason this page exists.

No listing shows where the land is. You get the general area, the acreage and the price; the gate is something you get on the phone. That keeps trespassers and poachers off a property whose owner was good enough to advertise it.

Before you pay anybody a dollar
  • Look the land up at the Appraisal District. Ownership in Polk County is public record and free to search. Get the owner’s name from whoever is leasing to you, then check it matches. Polk CAD property search ↗
  • Walk the property with them before money changes hands. See the gate, see the boundary, see the stands.
  • Get it in writing, with the acreage and the boundaries in it. A lease agreed on a handshake is one you cannot prove when a game warden asks.
  • If you are hunting land the lessor did not have the right to lease, you are the one who gets prosecuted. Not them. That is why the check above is worth the five minutes.
  • Never wire money, send gift cards or pay a deposit before you have stood on the place.
What PolkTX has and has not checked

A person reads every listing before it appears, and we turn away anything that reads wrong. That is all it is. PolkTX has not verified that anybody on this page owns or controls the land they are offering, has not seen a lease agreement, and is not a party to anything you agree. We do not take applications, hold deposits or handle money of any kind.

Nothing listed right now

Nobody has a lease or a spot listed at the moment. This page shows nothing rather than showing something out of date.

If you have land or a spot going, you would be the first, and being first on a page like this is worth something — every hunter in the county looking for a lease this summer will end up here because there is nowhere else to look.

Got land, or a spot to fill?

Listing is free and always will be — there is no paid placement on this page. We publish the general area and never the location, so you are not advertising your gate to the county. We ask you to confirm every 30 days that the spot is still open, which is one tap in an email, and is the whole reason this page is worth reading.
