- Was
- "5 of the 7 are dark" - Livingston Fire, Onalaska Fire, Goodrich Fire, Alabama Coushatta Fire and South Polk County VFD were all marked Offline, and the page was built around that being the story.
- Now
- All seven feeds are online, and were when the page was published. One of them had been up for 37 days. The page now leads with what is actually missing: there is no Sheriff's Office feed.
- What settled it
- Broadcastify's county listing shows a LISTENER COUNT, not a status, and the page was built by reading a zero in that column as "offline". A feed with nobody listening is usually still transmitting. Every status is now read off that feed's own page, one at a time, and the page says so. The claim that these were volunteers' scanners was wrong for the same reason - six of the seven are carried by eDispatches, a commercial service.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, tell us. We will fix it and say what changed.
A wrong phone number or an out-of-date meeting date costs somebody a trip, so anything factually wrong is fixed ahead of anything we were going to build that day. You do not need to be polite about it and you do not need to prove it — if you think it is wrong, send it and we will go and check.
Tell us what is wrong
Only one field is required: what is wrong. Everything else makes it faster.
What we have corrected
10 corrections since September 5, 2026. Publishing these is the only way to show the form above is real.
- Was
- The Livingston benefits office address was published with the words "it was confirmed directly, not because the directories were believed".
- Now
- The whole block - address, landmark, phone and hours - is attributed to that office's own Google Business listing, read September 12, 2026.
- What settled it
- The address came from the same Google listing as the rest, not from a separate direct confirmation. The address itself was right and has not changed. What was wrong was the claim about how it was known, and on a site that asks to be trusted because its facts are traceable, overstating how a fact was traced is worth correcting on its own.
- Was
- "3 of 13 bodies have a date on the calendar" — and four other counts on the page that went with it.
- Now
- Twelve bodies, which is what the data file holds.
- What settled it
- Seven Oaks City Council was retired from the meetings index on 2026-09-08 and the sentences counting it were not followed down, so the page spent three days describing a thirteenth body that was no longer there. The footer count now reads from the page's own list of bodies, so a body leaving cannot leave a stale number behind again.
- Was
- visitlivingstontexas.com was linked from the Livingston Main Street card, as the Main Street program's site.
- Now
- The link is off the card. The city's own Main Street page is the official site, as before.
- What settled it
- The site's own About page calls it "the official website for the Livingston Specialty Merchants' Guild" — a separate organization from the city program, even though the two work together and the site also carries a page headed "all things Main Street in Livingston". The office address, the Main Street mailbox and the manager's role were correct and are unchanged.
- Was
- One Head Start centre in Livingston, with its address flagged as disputed.
- Now
- Three programmes run by two operators — Alabama-Coushatta Head Start on Daycare Road, and MET Head Start and MET Early Head Start, both run by Motivation, Education & Training.
- What settled it
- Two third-party childcare directories disagreed with the Alabama-Coushatta program's own Facebook page on its address. The Tribe's own directory agrees with the Facebook page, which is two sources the operator controls against two that it does not. Each card now says where its address came from.
- Was
- A mayor and six council members for the City of Seven Oaks, and Seven Oaks City Council in the meetings index.
- Now
- Both removed. Seven Oaks is still listed on /officials/ with no officers, and the page says why rather than going quiet.
- What settled it
- All seven names traced to a single Texas Municipal League directory profile, all shared one phone number, and that number is disconnected. Nothing found about the city's officers is newer than 2001. Names nobody can verify are worse than an honest gap — but a blank space reads as "we didn't cover it", which is not what happened.
- Was
- Three Corrigan City Council meetings dated from a filename or an upload month — one with no date at all, two showing only a month.
- Now
- 2026-04-21, 2026-03-17 and 2026-07-21, each read off the date printed on the agenda itself, and each record says so.
- What settled it
- The city confirmed by telephone that the council meets the third Tuesday at 6:00 PM. All three corrected dates fall on a third Tuesday, which corroborates both the schedule and the dates. Two off-cycle records were left alone — they are most likely special meetings, and not ours to reschedule.
- Was
- Polk County in congressional district 8, in five places.
- Now
- District 10.
- What settled it
- The county's own cumulative results for the March 3, 2026 primary carry one congressional race — United States Representative, District No. 10 — and no District 8 contest appears anywhere in either 2026 report. Redistricting moved the county. The notes now separate the two questions that were being run together: which seat is on the ballot, and who serves until January 2027, who was elected under the old map.
- Was
- Livingston Trade Days happening "the weekend before the third Monday of each month".
- Now
- Four shows in 2026, published as named dates: March 14-15, May 16-17, October 17-18 and November 14-15.
- What settled it
- Three sources disagreed — the city said monthly, the Merchants' Guild said selected months, one travel site said quarterly. The city's own published dates settle it: all four shows fall on the weekend before the third Monday of their month, so the rule holds, but there are four a year and not twelve. Published as dates rather than as a rule, because a rule drifts silently and that is exactly how "each month" went stale.
- Was
- Twenty-four school district openings, including six that were not jobs at all — a street address, a phone number, a webmaster address, Site Map, Accessibility and Sign In — and postings at prison units in Midway, Navasota and Woodville, none of them in Polk County.
- Now
- Twelve real openings, all at campuses in the county.
- What settled it
- The collector was reading the footer of the regional job board as if it were the last district's listings, and Windham School District posts its whole statewide network from one panel. Postings are now matched on the campus named in the title. The page also says plainly that not every district posts to the regional board, and that those that do do not always post everything there.
PolkTX started on 2026-09-05 and the log starts with it. Corrections made before a page was ever public are not listed, because nobody could have read them. Entries here are never edited to soften them and never removed — a log that can be quietly pruned is not evidence of anything. Changes that are not corrections — new pages, new listings, design work — are not listed, because nobody was misled by them.
