Who's on the ballot
The 39 races Polk County votes on this November and the 93 names on them. Your own ballot carries only the precinct and school board races for where you live.

Polk County races
Polk County is the whole electorate for these. The names came out of the county’s March primary and May runoff, and the official sample ballot carries exactly the same names. Commissioner and Justice of the Peace races appear only on ballots in the voting precincts listed. Commissioner precincts 1 and 3 are not on the ballot this year.
Livingston ISD
Eight candidates for four seats. Voters inside the district may vote for none, one, two, three or four. The county prints this race only on ballots marked “ILV” for Livingston ISD: 18 of its 39 ballot styles.
Leggett ISD
Nine candidates for three seats. Voters inside the district may vote for none, one, two or three. It appears only on ballots marked “ILG”, in voting precincts 8, 9, 11 and 14.
Chester ISD
Six candidates for four seats. Voters inside the district may vote for none, one, two, three or four. It appears only on ballots marked “ICH”, in voting precincts 9, 10 and 11.
State and district races
Polk County votes on these alongside voters in other counties. Every name below is read off Polk County’s official sample ballot, in the order the ballot lists them. U.S. Senator, Governor and Lieutenant Governor also carry a line for a write-in candidate.

UPDATED 2026-10-19 against Polk County’s official sample ballots for November 3, 2026, all 39 ballot styles. “On the ballot” and “Not on the November ballot” are read directly off that document. Earlier this list said “could not confirm” for six bodies whose websites PolkTX could not read; the sample ballot answers all six. Livingston’s city seats are the one change of substance: they were ordered and certified unopposed, and they are not on the ballot.

Amendments and propositions
None on this ballot
Texas amends its constitution only when the Legislature proposes it, and the Legislature meets in odd years. Its last proposals went to voters on November 4, 2025. Polk County’s official sample ballot carries no proposition of any kind.
Polk County’s March 3 primary carried ten Republican and thirteen Democratic propositions. Those were party propositions — non-binding questions each party puts on its own primary ballot to poll its voters. They were never law, they are finished, and they are not on the November ballot. If you remember voting on propositions this year, that is what they were.
Not one of the county’s 39 ballot styles carries a bond, tax, emergency services district or other local proposition. The only local contests on the ballot are three school board elections, for Livingston, Leggett and Chester ISDs.

CONFIRMED 2026-10-19 against Polk County’s official sample ballots for November 3, 2026, all 39 ballot styles: none carries a proposition. The earlier check, dated 2026-09-08, rested on the Legislative Reference Library’s list of amendment election dates and a site-by-site search of local bodies. It found no measures and said special districts had not all been checked. The sample ballot settles that.

A race is marked unopposed when the county’s official sample ballot prints one name for it and no line for a write-in candidate. Eleven of the twelve Polk County races are unopposed; County Clerk is the exception. Two district races are unopposed as well: Chief Justice of the 9th Court of Appeals and District Judge of the 258th. The only races with a write-in line are U.S. Senator, Governor and Lieutenant Governor.
None of the 39 ballot styles carries a city race. Livingston’s three seats were certified unopposed in August, which lets the council cancel the election and declare those candidates elected. Corrigan holds its city election in May. Onalaska, Goodrich and Seven Oaks have nothing on the county’s November ballot.
PolkTX does not endorse candidates, publish voting records or ratings, or accept political advertising. This section is never sponsored. Races and candidates are listed in the order the county's sample ballot prints them — no ranking is intended or implied. If we publish candidate answers they will be verbatim replies to an identical questionnaire sent to everyone in the race, with non-responders noted neutrally.

UPDATED 2026-10-19 FROM THE COUNTY’S OFFICIAL SAMPLE BALLOT. Polk County has published its sample ballots for the November 3, 2026 general election: one two-page ballot for each of 39 ballot styles, created October 1. Every race and every name on this page was read off that document, and the race list is exactly the list of contests it carries. Which ballots carry the Commissioner and Justice of the Peace races, and the three school board races, is read off the precinct number printed at the top of each ballot. Ballot styles with a suffix (ILV, ILG, ICH) are the parts of a voting precinct inside Livingston, Leggett or Chester ISD. WHAT CHANGED: the county races carry the same names the March primary and May runoff produced, and the races marked unopposed are confirmed: one name, no write-in line. The 24 state, district and court races now carry names; before the sample ballot came out they were listed empty. The school board races were not known before. REMOVED: the City of Livingston’s Mayor and two Alderman seats. Not one of the 39 ballot styles carries them. The city’s August 24 certification of unopposed candidates lets the council cancel the election and declare those three elected, and the sample ballot is consistent with that. PolkTX has not found the cancellation order itself, so this page does not say it happened. The sample ballot is the county’s document. Where anything here disagrees with it, the county is right. Your own precinct is on your voter registration certificate or the Secretary of State’s My Voter Portal.
