Why it's worth five minutes

The badge links from your website to your PolkTX listing, and your listing links back to your website. Google treats links between real local websites as a sign that a business is real and trusted, so this can help both pages show up in search over time. It also tells customers where to find your hours, photos and details. No one can promise a ranking, but this is free and it helps.

Hi,

Can you add a small badge to our website? It links to a free listing on PolkTX, the Polk County, Texas directory. The footer is the best spot, or the Contact or About page.

Here is the code. Paste it into a Custom HTML / Embed / Code block:

<a href="https://polktx.com/directory/?s=badge" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="PolkTX, the Polk County, Texas directory"><img src="https://polktx.com/badge/listed-on-polktx.svg" alt="Listed on PolkTX" width="207" height="75" style="border:0;max-width:100%;height:auto"></a>

If the site has a dark footer, this version fits better:

<a href="https://polktx.com/directory/?s=badge" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="PolkTX, the Polk County, Texas directory"><img src="https://polktx.com/badge/listed-on-polktx-dark.svg" alt="Listed on PolkTX" width="207" height="75" style="border:0;max-width:100%;height:auto"></a>

If the site builder only takes an uploaded image: download https://polktx.com/badge/listed-on-polktx.png, add it as an image, and link it to:
https://polktx.com/directory/?s=badge

WordPress
  1. Log in and open the page you want it on (Pages → Edit), or the site footer: Appearance → Editor → Patterns → Footer on newer themes, Appearance → Widgets on older ones.
  2. Click + and add a Custom HTML block.
  3. Paste the code and click Save or Update.
Wix
  1. Download the light or dark PNG badge (links at the top of this page).
  2. In the Wix editor, click Add Elements → Image and upload the badge.
  3. Click the badge, click the Link icon, choose Web Address, paste your listing link (shown at the top of this page) and pick “New window”.
  4. Click Publish.

Use the image route on Wix. Wix's Embed Code box shows the badge inside a frame, so the link does not work as well.

Squarespace
  1. Edit the page or the footer and click Add Block → Code.
  2. Paste the code, make sure it is set to HTML, and click outside the block.
  3. Click Save.

Plain HTML works in code blocks on every Squarespace plan. Or use an Image block with the PNG and put your listing link in “Clickthrough URL”.

GoDaddy (Websites + Marketing)
  1. In your GoDaddy account, open Websites + Marketing and click Manage next to your site.
  2. Go to the page and spot you want it, click Add Section, search for HTML and add it.
  3. Paste the code into Custom Code, leave Forced Height blank, then Publish.
Shopify
  1. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
  2. In the Footer, click Add block (or Add section) and choose Custom Liquid.
  3. Paste the code and click Save.
Square Online
  1. Open your site editor and click Add section.
  2. Choose Embed code and paste the code.
  3. Click Publish.
Google Sites
  1. Download the light or dark PNG badge (links at the top of this page).
  2. Click Insert → Images → Upload and choose the badge.
  3. Click the badge, click the link icon, paste your listing link (shown at the top of this page) and click Apply.
  4. Click Publish.
Hand-built site / anything else
  1. Paste the code into the page HTML where you want the badge, usually just before </footer>.
  2. If your builder only takes images, use the PNG and link it to your listing.
